Lead-Acid Battery Care and Feeding

Charging Instructions

• We feel charging is best accomplished outside the house if possible. Charge in a protected garage, carport or shop, and keep the charger away from flammable materials, cloth, paper etc.

• Always charge batteries as soon as possible after use; charge once a month if in storage to preserve batteries through Winter, or during extended periods of disuse.

Breaking-in your new Batteries

• For longest lifetime of batteries, use your bike gently; for the first week to 10 days

• go easy on the acceleration
• no big hills, not full speed
• Start with short, slow trips working up to longer and faster.
• Lead-Acid batteries can last up to five years if treated perfectly. In real-life, they will give you 3-4 years of service, after which they may be recycled at most any auto shop or auto parts store.

You can find a recycling center by calling: 800.EAR.TH911 or visit www.earth911.org
